I tried to read bits of this last night but it completely grossed me out. She’s been on my list of people to read for ages which is why she made this list but in the two short stories I read last night there was a representation of a man having sexual relations with a woman who was asleep (legally rape) and a woman being raped while watching a hanging of a protestor. There seemed to be a link between fear and sexual expression. I don’t know how common that is in books but it seems like quite a common cultural attitude.
